A slight change in my sewing room

With me gathering my quilts together. I had to change my sewing room a little bit. And also I will need to have help with nameing of a quilt. This quilt pieces , I bought at a yard sale a while back. And I sewed everything in to my quilt. I have this in mind for my quilt. And maybe some help on the fabric date. I'm guessing fabric in the 50's. My name I have in mind is scrappy 50's.Name: 002.JPG

I, for one, will be delighted to see all of them. I like the one at the top. That border is new to me. Fun! What is Kalona?

That's a "50's Square Dance" if I ever saw one! Even has the "skirts" around the border.

In my dream world, fabric is free and sewing makes you thin.

I think this is my favorite quilt of yours! Love it. If it were mine I'd name it "50's Fandango". Fandango is a Spanish courtship dance, which the fans/skirts in the border remind me of. Regardless of your choice of names, it is a lovely quilt!

Kalona is a town in Iowa, and Don will be showing his quilts at a quilt museum in Kalona in July. There are some really nice quilt shops in Kalona as well.

Love the square dance name. I did a lot of square dancing in the 50's. A lot of women wanted to square dance just to be able to make the beautiful dresses. And we swished them around a lot.

That is the cutest quilt! You were so lucky to find those blocks. You did a wonderful job of arranging them.

    Love all your sewing space!

I'm from Ottumwa, IA, and have not heard of Kalona, IA. Wish I could be there for the show since I love all your quilts. How do you quilt? Hand, long-arm or DSM?

Pretty sure Kalona is one of the "Amana Colonies" cities in Iowa. Your quilts are wonderful Don. I was born and raised in Iowa....but a little far from there now.
