On my machine I have to ajust the tension if I'm using my walking foot. If I try to echo with my walking foot I get jamming too. So I lower my feed dogs And free motion. stiching slowly.

Are you using a quilt needle?
And quality thread?
It does make a difference sometimes.

Would you consider tying and maybe some hand quilting? It would be quicker and then you can figure out your machine when you're not so stressed. Things never work for me when i'm frazzled, i just seem to get deeper into the mess.

Have the stitch length to zero, the feed dogs down or covered and check the manual for darning or mending. Singer usually uses that term for free motion quilting. I have a Singer and haven't had any problems other then operator error. :D

Thanks for all the advice! I will try out everything when I can. I have to go to work today.

I think I will just try to squeeze in the hand quilting just to get it done and work more with the machine quilting on someting I'm not in a hurry for. I never had a problem with my old singer, but this one is a lot different.

ctquilter- I am like that too. I probably wouldn't end up getting it done having to mess with the machine so much.

I do have many many other projects I can practice on later:)

Thanks again. I"m going to save all this info and make sure I try them all to see if I can find out what I am doing.

Oh yeah, I've been there! My Janome's walking foot has a small arm on the right side that comes forward and must rest on a piece keeping it in the upright position. Yeah, a lot of time wasted not following this direction.
Good Luck!

Could you need a new needle? If all else fails I'd take it to a LQS or a sewing machine shop and ask for help. My machine was messing up horribly once and several ladies piped in "try a new needle". Holy crap they were right! Put in a new needle and voila...Beeeeautiful stitchin'

hey could you let us know what the issue is when you get it solved? It''ll work out.
