Normally I don't worry about putting something on the ruler to keep it in place, but I did put sandpaper dots on my ruler and I was really glad I did.

I use the sandpaper dots too work well.. they will fall off from time to time. Make sure you put em where they will not interfer with your measuring.

when i did mine i took the advice from someone on the board to use a counter that you could walk around so you didn't have to move your fabric around.

it is a good idea the something on back of rulers and to be able to walk around or move cutting mat w/out moving material. my DD and i made 3 just alike last weekend, now all i have to do is get backing done..

Good advice to have a table you can walk around. Also, somebody mentioned before that they used a smaller rotary cutter to cut across the top part of the ruler and that is a super idea. I didn't have one so I cut the small part at the top of the ruler with my scissors and that worked find too. Once you do one you will be surprised at how easy it is. DMyers, I love yours with the binding around the outside, that looks SO good!

I write all the measurements down out of my pattern book. As I cut them, I mark it off on the ones written so I don't mess up my book.
