The pattern is usually called Star Spin. It was free a long time ago. I know because I still have the free handout from the first time I went to Paducah Quilt Show and I've seen it free on a few Yahoo quilt groups after that. The pattern in more detail is also in a little quilt booklet I have called How to hand quilt without a frame. I guess when the pattern became popular online it quit being free. At least the price of the pattern is reasonable, considering how many pages the pattern has. If it is like the patterns I have of it, it is all black/white line drawings, very old printing that has been scanned.
