Lightbulb Spray Basting Wool - Hand Quilting

Hello!
I tried searching for this answer, but didn't see one...

I bought some Hobbs Tuscany Wool for a quilt that I will be doing by hand.
I am a die hard for spray basting, but have never used wool before.

So, has anyone spray basted wool? Does it hold well? I did a mini quilt to practice stitches with and it felt like the baste didn't hold as well as I would have liked...

I use 505 for spray, but I am thinking that maybe spray, then thread (large gaps) will be the best way to baste it?
Note: it is for big stitch quilting, not them little teeny tiny ones that my little hands seem to have an issue with.

Thanks !!!

I don't spray baste, but I do quilt with wool batting often. Wool battings are loftier than batts like warm & natural which may cause the spray to not hold us as well. I would definitely thread baste in a grid and around the edges to keep it together while you quilt.
I hope you share pictures of your finished quilt.

I had bad luck spray basting both a lap quilt and a queen sized quilt using wool batting. I read here that others have the same problem. I finished a queen sized quilt a week ago, and I will use a wool batt. I have asked a friend with a long arm to baste it for me with water soluble thread. For hand quilting, you could find someone that will baste your quilt with regular thread, using 1" stitches.
