Default Star of Bethlehem quilt

I started this quilt which has a gazillion pieces and its all y-seams. I thought that I would be able to do this with just careful piecing. I usually do this type of piecing by hand, but my old hands dont work like they use to, so Im doing it on the machine. I am having a problem with bulk at the ends. Could anyone suggest a source for doing this type of piecing? For the secret? in pressing the seams(which way or does it matter?) I dont really want to put it away, I have to much invested in it.
Any advice would be appreciated

also have you tried pressing the seam open to minimise bulk?
Good luck with it, I'm sure it will be stunning when done.

Pressing the seams open is your best bet. I've heard smashing with a hammer helps in getting those stubborn seams to play nicely as well.

I always press y seams open, and trim as much as possible to reduce bulk, but I love the idea of a hammer.

Thanks for the information. I press some of the seams open but it doesnt seem viable for all of the seams?
