I made a star sampler quilt and just went through my 501 Blocks book and picked out blocks I liked...the hard part was narrowing it down to the number I needed!

I have fallen in love with the LeMoyne Star. I use Deb Tucker's Rapid Fire LeMoyne star ruler and it is so easy and they turn out perfect. With the one ruler, you can make starts from 3" to 12".

I just finished making the Snow Days quilt and I liked the Martha Washington star, made it in 3 sizes, 6,9 and 12 inches.

There are so many to choose from, but I would use the friendship star, Ohio star, my favorite - the 8 pointed star, Hope of Hartford star, and the list goes on. I love star blocks and would have to say the eight pointed star is one of my favorites, as you can make so many variations - putting a 9-patch or 4-patch in the center square, square in a square, and the lsit goes on. The possibilities are endless, in fact I would have trouble decided which ones would not go into the quitl.

I made my husband a sampler for our 10th wedding anniversary last year. All the blocks are 12" and all of them are from www.quilterscache.com

I just searched the site for 12" finished blocks.

KP what a beautiful red/white/blue quilt! I wish I could learn to do paper piecing like the other blocks shown. I just cant get the hang of it. My favorite block is Double Aster. It looks complicated but its really not! My suggestion is to try different ones on scrap material until you find the ones you are comfortable making but most of all have FUN!!

There's also a really cool split LeMoyne Star that's really striking if you do it in bold, contrasting colors. It's what's in the middle of my sampler!

Thanks for refreshing my memory on those Dream Castle blocks! I collected them all since I do looooove star blocks. Now I'm retired and have time to do something with them.

I have always liked the Chicago Star, it is sort of one step up over the Ohio Star, having an added piece in the point to give more variation. Sounds like you have a good plan started.

    I love Annie's Choice.

My favorites are: Lemoyne, Ohio, and Carpenter
Families are like old quilts....although they tend to unravel at times...each can be stitched back together with love.

Would anybody possibly have the Dreamcastle quilts block of the month patterns? Or have a source for purchase. The website is no longer in existance.
