What is the difference if any, between the starch you buy at a quilt store and what you can buy in the laundry aisle?
Thanks!

Personal preference. I buy the cheap canned or the big bottle of Niagra and mix my own :D:D:D

I have just purchased my first bottle of Mary Ellen's and I really like the result, but I am thinking it could get fairly expensive.

Thank you both! So I'll do cheap for now, and try the others as I get extra money.

many recommend "sizing" rather than starch and report a non aerosl can in the laundry section

Try the Niagra Non-aerasol, it's $1.87 at Wal-Mart for 22 oz. Also, I used up a bottle of that today and mixed the regular Staflo starch--1 cup starch 2 cups water--in the empty Niagra bottle and it works great too! Neither one leaves flakes.

I always get it when they have a coupon. I buy the big bottle and refill my original spray bottle. I also thin it out a bit with some water. I haven't noticed any difference with full strength or watered down. Get the same great results!!!

Me too! But, I get the Sta-Flo. I've even made my own and its works great. Bought a huge container of cornstarch at Sam's Club for a nothing and when I run out of the other stuff I make my own and talk about cheap!

Bought some Niagra today. I think I like it except it smells strong enough that I'm afraid it might make my headaches worse. Though it does dry fairly quickly. I'll just have to be careful.
