I only use start/stop button for embroidery. I use the foot pedal to sew.

I love mine...will never go back to a foot petal. Takes a couple of times to get used to it but it is much better and easier on your body.

My on/off button is only for use when doing embroidery. I've never had a machine that used one just for sewing. Would be kind of neat I think. Something to think about for next machine.

I use mine more than I use the foot pedal. Once you get used to it it is easier for free motion quilting.
