I also learned that method, but found a flaw with it when making a very large quilt. It doesn't always lay where you want it and will slide with the weight of a large quilt. I have never sewn it on before pressing like Nilla (that sounds like it would help). Remember once it's pressed, it's permanent and can't be adjusted. I use the 1/4" strip rolls.

I am going to try the dot of glue method and may revisit using steam-a-seam with Nilla's method as well.
