I feel the same way! I learned to FMQ using my Bernina 1031, bought it new in 1992; quilted many quilts up to queen size. I tried a Bernina at a quilt show that had the BSR, we didn't get along.

Is the stitch regulator the same as the fabric mover that Pfaff put out? I don't think they went over well as I bought mine at the LQS garage sale for $20.00 and they started out about 600.00 or so. I decided I didn't like it, too limiting, such a small space to work in so it is collecting dust!

One of the features I liked about the Bernina 830 was the BSR. Turned out I didn't like using it. It's probably like everything else, with practice you get better at it.

Thanks for all of the responses. I think I'll just keep FMQ on my dsm. I enjoy the results even when they are not perfect. Washing really covers up imperfections!
