If you're shopping for fabric, would you rather...

... be able to get whatever you please, any day, for $1 less than the "suggested retail price" (meaning the real retail price, not a phony marked-up price)

or

... wait for the shop to run a sale, and get it for $2 off (about 25% off)?

(This probably isn't JUST a fabric-shopping question... it's probably more about your shopping philosophy overall.)

Personally, I'm an "option 1" person, 'cause I'm short on time and it requires less thought/research.

How about you?

I'm the #1 kind of gal -- $1 off every day is better to me than having to wait for a sale.... :D

I shop for sales when I'm not in a hurry. If I need something right away - I just go buy it and hope for the best deal. I do try to plan ahead for the most part though. I know that's not always possible/practical but I do it as much as possible.

I am not a shopper, I am a buyer.
I wish I could learn to look for sales, but just isn't me.

I've built up my stash so I can wait for a super sale now.

Well it really depends. I am going to sound nutty...but....
sometimes the fabric could be cheaper to buy it 1.00 off instead of the waiting for the sale. If a shop did not mark up prices and sold fabric for a dollar cheaper then they would seldom run sales, where as the shop that jack the price up can run a 2.00 sale on fabric and still cost more than the shop that charges a dollar less than SRP!

I am really bad, I never buy ANYRTHING (except food items that i HAVE to have RIGHT then and THERE!!!) unless it is on sale or clearance or I have a coupon!!! I also use comp ads at walmart! My husband use to think I was CRAZY and then he seen how much I saved and he will not go to walmart (its the only store we have around here without driving 25/30 miles) without checking the comp ads! I am a stay at home mom so I have the time to check the papers online and see who has what on sale, make a list and then go to walmart and compare prices sometimes you can get the walmart brand cheaper than you can get the name brand on sale and sometimes you can even get the name brand cheaper than the other stores have the name brand on sale!

I know this is clear as mudd....and long!

Although I always look for the sale bin at the lqs they do not always have what I want so I would definately go with option 1. I will always give my business to good honest hard working people who do right by those who make their business what it is.

If I know a sale is coming, I wait. Luckily I, too, have a stash built up over time. If I need to get something for a swap or special project, I try to either use a coupon, or catch a sale someplace.
