    Fussy cut means to cut certain areas out of fabric. If there are some really pretty flowers, we cut a square with the flower right in the middle of the square to use in our quilt. You end up with a piece of fabric that looks like a sieve. Some do this to make a OBW (One Block Wonder) also. They cut the shape of the piece from the exact same spot in the pattern to make the repeats in a block all look the same.

    No, to "fussy cut" a piece of fabric, you cut the design--one at a time--allowing seam allowance-- so you can sew it down or turn it under for applique. Your fussy cut design might be of animals, people,e cars, etc. Hope this helps.
