suggestions for a quilt backing idea

I am looking for suggestions on an idea for backing this ombre/gradation quilt. I have plenty of bricks left. Should I go solid? A pattern? They will not use it as a reversible quilt but I thought a more unique background than solid might be nice. It's a wedding quilt for my son. Thank You. MA

Very pretty! You could use a solid with some of the bricks in the backing, it is always nice to add a bit of the front to the back I think. I like a mottled that reads solid and the bricks would make things interesting. Just my 2bits.

I might look for a water/ wave fabric for the back and use the fabric pattern for the quilting design to quilt from the back. Pretty top and it would depend on how you intend to quilt it and what colour thread you intend yo use in choosing the back.

It would depend on the thread you are going to be using. I would choose a blue somewhere between the light and the dark fabric you have used that matches the thread you will use. A sort of multi shade watercolor print would work best to hide any quilting mistakes you may make.

I would look for a paisley, or something with a large, roundish pattern that covers all of the background, like this: https://www.fabric.com/buy/dg-047/ka...-chrysanthemum using colors similar to your top. Here's another:

The roundness and busyness will provide a nice contrast to the calm color palette and straight lines of the top.

You know, I might use some of those bricks...maybe a row of 3 up the center...and surround it with a neat fabric that reads as blue but is marbled or patterned. It sounds pretty in my head, would use some of your bricks, and would look good.
Fun thinking about ideas, isn't it? Your quilt is beautiful!!! What a great wedding gift.

maybe get a nice coordinating fabric for the back. maybe a teal or one that would go well with the lighter colors. Are you doing a border? if yes maybe use that fabric as the backing. I do like the idea of the bricks splitting the back. just a thought. And withthis beign a wedding present maybe use a color that the wife likes. just and idea.
