I went to a yard sale and scored two big dishpack boxes of fabric scraps. Down in the bottom of one was 13 yards of cotton velveteen.

Now that will make something fancy.

What is a tow sack of corn? (can you tell I am city bred? )

Funny story. I was early waiting for my friends in a parking lot for lunch. A guy was there with large burlap bags (tow sacks) of unhusked corn on the cob in the bed of his truck. His old truck was like the one my grandfather use to have and I told him his truck made me smile. He said it belonged to his father and now his I asked him if that was corn from a well known farm a few hours away. He said yes he was there to bring pre sold orders to be picked up. I asked if he had extra to sell. He said no, it's all paid for and should be picked up. A few minutes later he came over to me and said a customer called and cannot come get the corn she ordered and he wasn't coming back to this area. He said it was already paid for and I could have it. I put the two big sacks of corn in my car and when I told my friends I had corn from the farm to share they couldn't believe it. One was more excited to have the big burlap bag with the farm logo on it.

I'd call that a "delicious" story!
And now I know what a tow sack is.

My husband grew up in a rural area and he always says "sweet corn" whereas I say "corn on the cob". One time my city-bred self asked him "sweet corn? What other kind is there"? To which he replied "cow corn". Who knew?

That is great news, I only have one granddaughter also and she is getting a lot of my stuff, she already told me she will raid my house before anyone else does. I told good for her and whatever she wants she gets before anyone else.

This made me laugh! I don't expect it, but I'm the same way, weird fun stuff happens to me a lot. I'm not sure if it's just because I'm normally a very talkative person, even to strangers, or what?

I grew up in cow country (mostly dairy farms) and didn't know what a tow sack was either. I do know what cow corn is though, we teased the "city kids" (namely cousins and friends who would visit) and we'd sneak into the neighbors corn field and snag an ear for them to try "right off the stalk!" haha!! Most thought you must have to cook it to get it to taste sweet after that first horrible bite! ha ha!! Not as bad as what my father and his siblings would do, they'd all hold hands in a line and then grab the electric fence, only shocking the last kid in the line.

I got several great jobs by talking to strangers. They would say my company is looking for someone and you would be a good fit. You never know what will happen when you start a conversation . I got my long term job with pension by talking to the clerk while paying my electric bill. Just open mouth and let happy words come out..
