I just came home to find out that my aunt has given me her Brother LS 1217! How exciting! It's a very simple machine, no frills, but I'm so happy to have it. I've been sewing with my grandmother's Singer (Stylist 543 is the only other ID on the machine) for years and I still love it, but it will be so nice to have an alternate machine to use. I've heard good things about Brothers, but I was wondering if anybody has experience with the LS 1217? I looked under the search option and couldn't find anything. If there are any pitfalls or tips I need to be aware of I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

I did not have that particular model but I did have a Brother as a backup machine to take to classes. When I upgraded it I handed it to a friend of mine who used to sew a lot. She just told me that she loves it.

Brothers are generally easy to use and they will let you know immediately when they are unhappy. Skipped stitches meant "clean the bobbin area" and I could feel the needle running dull.
