Has anyone worked on this quilt. I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the book and try it. I thought it wuld be fun to do a different block each time but wondering how difficult a 6 inch block would be.

I got the patterns off the internet when they were available. I have about 18 blocks done. I was hand piecing them. If you like variety they are fine. I got bored, but I still have them.

My LQS did this as a BOM. We did not do all the blocks as some were too difficult for some of us less experienced quilters. We did 86 of the 120-something patterns in the book.
They started us out with simpler blocks gradually advancing to the more difficult ones.

I consider myself an advanced beginner & learned a lot going from easy to more complicated blocks. I don't know how hard it would be doing it on your own advancing through the blocks.

I liked that we were given the fabrics & I didn't have to make a decision on what to use :D .

I just finished mine. Will post pictures next time my DD is over to help.

I think you should always push yourself as a quilter, to do something you've never done before. I looked at it on amazon and theres alot of different blocks and techniques. I think it would be a great challenge and learning experience for a beginner. However time consuming because every block is different. It all depends on your style.

My daughter is doing the Sylvia quilt now. She is about 90% done with the blocks. She only hand pieces and hand quilts - doesn't like sewing machines.

I've finished mine and posted it. There are 140 blocks, but lots of quilters have chosen to do smaller versions. I coordinate a BOW group for Jennifer Chiaverini where we do one block a week. It's a fun, no pressure group and once a month we draw a name out of those who have completed blocks and she wins an Elm Creek Quilter's pin. To join, visit http://www.sylviasbridalsampler.com. Here's my quilt:

Yours is beautiful. Will the group continue for awhile. If I can get a book it will still take a little while until I can get started.
