Default Table topper question ??

I just made a table topper and used cotton batting that is usually used in a quilt. I think it was too thick for a topper. What do most people use to make it thinner?

I use my regular batting in table toppers (dream green). It's firm but not wobbly. Not heat resistant like insulbright but stands up to most other things.

I sell my quilts and table toppers are among my best sellers. No complaints about the thickness yet!

I use the same batting for my table toppers as for my quilts also. If I'm totally honest they are often the left overs from my most recent project. The only time I would think of using something thinner would be if the recipient wanted the topper to drape at the ends of the table. In that situation I might use a layer or two of flannel instead of batting.

If you want a thinner table topper, you can always use flannel as a batting, or no batting at all.

I use my leftover Hobbs 80/20 batting.

This is what I use also, it's not too thick, lays flat.

I use flannel in the middle. It is lovely and soft and gives a nice flat finish.

If the topper is to have hot dishes put on it then I would re-think the flannel.

I use batting mostly, would use flannel. I don't know why you would put a hot thing on a table topper as it isn't made for a hot pad it is a pretty table topper.
