Default Tablecloth question

I made a quilt top and have decided to make it into a table coth. Would you put batting and bind or just use cotton batting and birth the table cloth? If I use warm and natural batting do you think it would be to stiff?

I think W & N would make it too thick, glasses might tip, over, I would use thin flannel or perhaps no filler at all. Just a back and I would bind it.

I think flannel would make a good backing. I would use thick, though!

I have made several tablecloths and have done it both ways, batting and no batting. I have about 6 seasonal ones I use often, but we do not eat on them. I remove them to eat. They are just for show.

I'd use only the lightest of battings. I hate the term birthing, but I do make a lot of things that are sewn right sides together and turned right side out. To me, it depends on the look you want.

I use a flannel sheet blanket to back table cloths and table runners. I also use clear plastic over them for our holiday tables.

I would put the table cloth on the table and test how you like it with each of the ways you are considering doing it....with batting, without, how thick.

Some questions to ask:

Do your glasses tend to lean when you have no batting in it?
If yes, does adding batting help?
Are you going to add a clear plastic cover so that it won't get wet and dirty too quickly?
Is it just for show?

We'd love to see a picture.

I don't use batting,but back it with some tablecloth fabric...then it's reversible.
