Mostly I do not have the patience for hand piecing, but since we are heading to Chicago for the w/end of the 4th, I am going to take some piecing with me to work on. I have been looking at, and admiring Ninnie's buggy wheel blocks. I think this is what I will take to work on. There is plenty in my stash to do some "free shopping" for this project. ;)

My MIL is currently in assisted living there. She has reached the point of needing more care than what is now available to her. So this will be a bit of a tough visit....trying to convince her that she really does need to move. ( She is 86) We have looked into facilities near us that would have the level of care that she needs, and there are several options. She did express interest in moving here, then changed her mind. I suspect largely due to her lack of mobility and worrying about how we would get her here. It would be a two day car ride for her....we will drive this weekend in one stretch each way as my DH's daughter is coming with us, so 3 drivers makes it very doable. Plus, I took the Friday off work. ;) Depending on road construction, it is about a 15 hour drive. MIL uses a scooter 90% of the time, and two crutches when she has to get out of it. We have looked into options for getting her here, and there are a few. Since she and I have a very good relationship, I am hoping I can convince her we CAN do this.

With an 18 year old in tow, so as not to make the weekend entirely boring, DH will take her to the fireworks on the 4th, and hopefully we will be able to take in The Taste of Chicago as well.

Hope all goes well!

We don't attend any of the events in Chicago - Hubby can't stand crowds - and there will be thousands there!

Ditto on the crowds!!!! Which is why the DH and daughter can go do those things. :D I'll hang out with MIL and sew. ;)
