Sliding Tools
I have a cutting table which is 4 inches higher on the back legs compared to the front legs, and I would find while I was moving my rulers to line things up for the next slice either my rotary cutter or scissors where constantly sliding down and had my legs and toes in sight for their next slice..............as I was looking around my sewing room which also doubles as my office I happened to notice I had a "CellMate" which is one of those rubber/gripper type pads you are supposed to attached to your dash board to prevent your cell phone or other device from sliding around.............it works perfect on the corners of my table to hold my tools from hitting the floor.

Great way to solve your problem. Are you using a drafting table to cut on? Might be something to think about for relief of back pain while cutting. I have the table that my sewing machine is on for cutting but it is a little low. I would put bed raisers under the legs but then it's too high for sewing.

No its not a drafting table its an old door from a house with the thinnest sheet of plywood on each side to make the surface smooth. It was then sanded down and has a few coats of varnish on, as it was originally used as a desk. It was built for my dad before he redid his office and gave it to me and he was a very tall man and the height it was, was constantly giving me back pain if I would be cutting for more than 10 mins or so................so I read through a book at a LQS and it advised to measure from your bent elbow at your side and down to give you the height needed for your ironing and cutting surfaces. This table is also pretty wide as well and many times I was finding the lights would cause glares on my rulers or everytime I would lean over for a full width cut I would hit my ruler............so my husband had the idea to raise the back side like a drafting table to lessen then glares and reaches and it has been wonderous!!!!!!
