Default Technicolor Braid Quilt, Fons/Porter Pattern, Have you made one ???

This pattern is from Fons and Porter Easy Quilts - Scrap Quilts - Fall 2011. Is Called Technicolor Braid Quilt, it uses
a half hexagon template, from a 3" Hexagon. This quilt was resently featured in their 1800 series PBS show.
Has anyone made one, and if so was it as easy as it appeared. Am waiting for the magazine to arrive in the mail, and
finally found and purchased a Fons and Porter Hexagon template.....

Lovely quilt. I haven't made one, but like so many others, it's in my bucket list. LOL

There is a tutorial on Missouri Quilt Co & You tube using the half hex template for a braid. Looks fairly easy.

Sewing with Nancy had a half hexagon quilt on her show recently. It looked very easy - she used batiks on hers.

You can google technique braid quilt and a picture is available. It's really a pretty quilt.

I just saw that program today and spent the whole program asking "why do you have to use hexagons and a special ruler??" I make my braids by putting strips at right angles to each other. Theirs looked nice but awfully labor intensive and just another ruler to purchase!

Sorry if I sound like a grouch but that's my "thing" about F&P - buy this, buy that!

Now that I think about it - it was a very large Grandmothers's Flower Garden that was on Sewing with Nancy - she used half hexagons - two alike and sewed them in rows and then sewed them together. Not any type of braids. It looked very easy.
