Boys do not need to be hard. I made quilts for my three grandsons a year ago and they were thrilled. All were completely different, an Ohio Star in red and white, another in warm reds and browns, and another in bright nature prints. They loved them!

I can show you what I made for my teenagers. Their number one request ws not flowers!! It was not as hard as it seemed. They all loved their quilts. Make a pattern you are comfortable with with "manly" colors!

It all depends on his interests. My guys each like different color combinations and different topics or designs.

Dragons? Tardis? Sports? Safari animals? Fireworks? Forest? Ocean? Patriotic? Warm colors? Cool colors? Bargello? Stars?

So, what kind of pattern would you make for a teenage boy? Something geometric or wild looking? Maybe a Labrinth Walk? Help!!!
I have a son just like that and I made him a Trip Around the World which he uses every winter

I would ask him about his favorite color. I would then use blacks, grays, and that color to make a graphic quilt. I steer away from themed quilts (space, music, sports, etc.) because they tend to grow away from them.

I've seen some really cool quilts for boys (and girls) that are classic video game fans....Here's an example I found on google: http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/i/20...87-d5el58f.jpg

My DGS is 18 and has requested this pattern without the kitty panel, for his quilt. His will be in blues, greens and grays.

for my sons 25th bd ( feb 24) I made him an Asian quilt since he's into martial arts, and the Asian way of life. it has different symbols, like a koi, did research as to what color to do it in. each color symbolizes different things. I put in kanji for the words I wanted, strength, longlife, prosperty, strength, on the bck label son. a lantern a bonsai and stuff like that.
