Good for them! I don't subscribe, but they seem like very nice people. Somewhere I heard Jenny Doan tell the story of how their business wasn't taking off, and her son asked, "Hey Mom, do you think you could do a tutorial?" She replied, "Sure, hon. What's a tutorial?" Best business move ever, I'd say, as she turned out to be a natural.

I think most are confused. You are not signing up for their site, emails, or notifications. If you watch the tutorials on youtube you have a choice to subscribe to watch them. You can only subscribe to their channel on youtube. You can watch for free, subscribed or not subscribed. The number of subscribers give the channel more clout to get sponsors. I highly doubt MS needs sponsors but have the clout to be one million quilters strong. It's the goal of any youtube channel to have a million subscribers. It cost nothing, zero, free. For comparison, Donna Jordan from Jordan's Fabrics and 3 Yard Quilt by Fabric Cafe have less then 19,000 subscribers.
