I would follow chronological order. I also want to say that I think your idea is wonderful and this will be a treasure to the young man who gets it.

I think either layout one or two. Whichever one you find the most pleasing. I think he will love it no matter which way you lay it out.

Thank you all. Yes, I was & did make sure my son had the final say with no indication of my opinion. I have OCD so, you know how that goes, lol. I showed him all 3 options very closely and described the differences. His FINAL choice was chronological order.

I am currently cutting velvet cornerstones. If you have never worked with this, make sure you stabilize it before attempting to do accurate cuts. VERY stretchy stuff. This is not true velvet. It is the thinner kind that they make costumes, stage props, etc with.
