There is 3D fabric!!

Our LQS just got in Hoffman 3-D Fabric. It's an ocean scene (part of their "Coming At You" line)
They have the glasses and everything. It looks like normal fabric (since sometimes 3-D things look weird without the glasses). Then you put on the glasses and the shapes totally pop out! So cool.
Though I have no idea what I'd make with it. I checked the website's free pattern - didn't love it. It was lots of mitered corners. Any thoughts?

There are currently 3 prints in the "Coming at You" 3D line from Hoffman -- an outer space print, the aquarium type print, and a sort of jungle print with lots of grass and butterflies. The first two are on deep blue backgrounds and the third is mostly green grass background.
They really are cool to look at through the special glasses provided.

3D fabric is intresting, but I can not see mysef using it.I do wall hangings and bed quilts not going to ask people to put on glasses to see the wallhanging and I take off my glasses when I go to bed. LOL Its hard enough getting grands off to bed without them wanting to stop and look at there Quilt. Has any one tryed it? hou does it do in the washer and dryer? is the 3D caused by how it is printed or by what it is printed with? My LQS could not ansewer these questions.

It's in the printing process, so it's permanent, will not wash out.
We see it as mostly an item for making quilts and other stuff for kid's rooms, but it is fun. We show everyone who comes over, and they're amazed. :-D
