Is there a quicker way than drawing a line from corner to corner?
I'm still playing with scraps and am drawing lines on a 2 1/2" squares from corner to corner. The squares will go on the end of a 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 rectangle and sewn and flipped.
Wondering if there is a quicker method than drawing that line. What is your preferred method?

I skip drawing the line and instead place my ruler so that the quarter inch line goes from corner to corner, and then I cut the square. In other words, the cut is 1/4" away from the center line. When it is sewn, I am sewing on the place where the line would have been, if I had drawn it.

So if your sewing machine feeds very evenly and you're good at keeping your fabric straight as you sew, this should work for your needs: http://aprilrosenthal.com/2013/11/25...ngle-hst-hack/
If you have your square lined up correctly on your rectangle, you can just line up the corner of the square with the center line and be good to go. Hope it works for you!

I have pieces of painter’s tape lined up on the front of my machine. One edge aligns with my 1/4” mark, one edge aligns with my needle. When I’m doing corner-to-corner, I just pop one corner under my presser foot and then keep the opposite corner lined up with the edge of the tape as it feeds through.

I'm snickering as I read all of these comments, because I have done them all and more. And I still use several of these methods.
Depending on how lazy I am or how much time I have or how many I have to do. Mostly, I just put a ruler from corner to corner at the 1/4" mark & draw the line.
Haven't found the most efficient and most accurate method for me yet.
I've also tried a laser from Harbor Frght, templates, those paper things (thangles, I think), I have used that 1/4" quilters tape, a few templates and rulers....even one of those 1/2" rulers with the slot down the center for marking the centers &/or each side at 1/4".
they all work fine. But me....not so much.
