Default Thread for hand quilting

I have lots of 40 wt. King Tut cotton thread, which I use for machine quilting. Is there any reason I shouldn't use this thread for hand quilting? Thus far for hand quilting I've used Gutermann hand quilting thread and Aurifil 28 wt.

I don't see any reason that you can't use the thread you have. I always use Gutermann 30wt to hand quilt.....I like to see the heavier thread. I've never used King Tut thread but it should be fine.

no reason at all but you may wish to run it through beeswax or thread heaven to help keep it from knotting. I believe the Guterman hand quilting thread is glazed but king tut is definitely not.

I too think that Gutermann is glazed along with C&C quilting thread. You will get a lot more knots than regular thread, that s why they make it especially for hand quilting for decades.
