This spool of quilting thread has a mind of its own and just will not stay wound up. Yesterday's bright idea was to make a sleeve for it so I cut a piece from an old headband, stitched it up and voila!....the thread stays in place and feeds nicely from the top!

this is what i used my 'ruined' pantyhose for... just sew a long seam down the leg with tiny zigzag stitches so you can cut off the length you need for the next spool without it unraveling. I sew at least 2 tubes (one on each side of the leg before cutting apart. they will fit most spools if you make the tube approx 1.5", but of course you can adjust if you have gutterman little spools or super large spools from other brands....
