    I used to think the thread had to match the main color of my quilt and then was told neutral grays and beiges are best. Now I have a hodge podge of thread but still prefer using matching thread, although no thread really shows on the piecing, so you are pretty much safe with either.

    I use mediun gray and for applique was suggested to use variegated thread.

    i was taught to use no color darker than the lightest color in your quilt.

    I use Ecru for the ight colors and Charcoal for the darker colors and the same in the bobbins.That's what my cousins said to use and they both do beautiful work on quilts and other things they do....

    I'm with you Murphy, I use a lot of gray and light beige, they seem to blend into invisibility more than other colors. If I'm working on a really "special" quilt, I tend to splurge and match the fabric lol

    I'm using white to piece together a quilt. I'm thinking I'll use many different threads to quilt it.

    White of off white,...but for Quilting i use the same color as the blocl it self
