I am going to be starting work on a dresden plate block. I will be appliqueing the plate onto a neutral block. What type of thread does everyone use for applique? I have heard some people use hand quilting thread and others use embroidery thread. Any suggestions?

The hand quilting thread would make the job even ore tedious. It is heavier and the stitches would show. I use silk for my applique. The thread is fine, the stitches bury into the fabric and don't show at all.

I'm making some dresden plate applique blocks too but I didn't have any silk thread. My LQS doesn't carry it so I used some Rayon machine embroidery thread (Madiera)that I have and it is great for hand applique. This is such a great project when watching TV :)
