For almost all medium to dark colors, I've found that sort of a greenish gray - about the color of easter egg dye when the colors get all muddied up - works well for just about everything.[/quote]

I am with you on the stitches showing - I use alot of black and white this way too.

I can't take the credit for the color description - it was in one of my quilting books - I think it was Quilts! Quilts!Quilts! - but I don't remember for sure and I don't care quite enough to go look it up!

I don't hand quilt, but for all my needs the Connecting Threads thread is the best.
