So, when I get another set of blades, those pinking blades really do work? I wondered about that!

overcasting or serging is the only way to prevent raveling

I clip the corners after I've washed my fabric. This indicates that it's been washed. I don't get strings because I hand wash every thing.

I put mine in a net wash bag and it minimises the stress on the fabric.

I bought a washer that had a hand wash cycle. It swishes, no agitation. Not one thread on my fabric comes loose. The dryer doesn't do any raveling at all. The washer is worth every penny for this feature!

Didn't work for me either. I don't have the easy access to a W/D and it takes up too much time to pre-wash everything and iron it all.

Looks as if most of the strings are in the middle by the fabric fold. Were you suppose to diagonal cut (nip) at the selvages AND at the fold line??

I think you are suppose to cut a about a one inch square piece from each corner of the fabric, not snip at an angle. I've never tried it but others that have cut this way say it works.

I clip my corners as I put my fabric in the washer. It tells me that I've pre washed the fabric. If I come across a piece of fabric that I haven't cut the corners, then I know I haven't pre washed it. it hasn't stopped the raveling in the wash, but its not as bad as without cutting it.
