They really liked the quilt. Many came up afterwards and told me I changed their perception of what quilting was.

Good advice from all of you. I was a Speech Team coach for years and agree to keep it simple, 3 parts, some things to show, maybe a memory or a silly statement like "Quilters take big pieces of fabric and cut them up into little pieces, then sew them back together to make big pieces!" etc. to warm up the group.

    Congratulations on the ribbon!!

I don't know that I could limit myself to 7 minutes. There are so many facets to quilting, that you could spend a week discussing it and still not get it all said!

Congratulations! You had to have felt great about your win, but more importantly people's comments afterwards. To change someone's perception in seven minutes is a wonderful achievement.

Congrats on the ribbon! It makes me smile just knowing you picked this topic and won over an audience of non-quilters.
