Default diamond shapes

Hi, can anyone tell how to cut diamond shapes for Fancy 8-point Star using a ruler. No doubt it's very simple but I can't remember the way my instructor showed our class.. Looking forward to your ideas.

I googled "how to cut diamonds for quilting" and it came up with several websites and you tube videos. Maybe you will find your instructors way there.

What size star are you thinking of? I have used strips to cut diamonds out of using the angle lines on my ruler.

Cut a strip of fabric. line up the 45 deg along the edge of your fabric and the width you cut should be the same as the width you cut your strips.
