Trapunto by HAND - Books? Tutes?
Wanting to try a small sampler piece for handworked trapunto. I've searched Google, etc. but almost all of it is for machine and I know there is a good tute here on the board for that.
I just want the old "hand sew and stuff it" method. Any help much appreciated!

Thanks Dotty. Not truly sure of what stuffing the "usual way" is, but I did find a method using toile behind the design, stuffing in wadding and then putting regular batting and backing on before quilting. Seems it might work!

Hello Kitsie,
you could also have a look to the video by Tim Latimer how he does his Trapunto:

There are several books and a few You Tubes available. No reason you cant do it in the same manner as a machine made trapunto. You'll just be doing the sewing by hand like every one used to do before we had such great machines easily available.
I did find some techniques for hand trapunto suggested cutting into the backing fabric. It is definitely against my sewing religion to cut something that doesn't need it! I am my own quilt/sew police.

This is one of my most favortie quilting reference books and she has a section on trapunto methods by hand as well as a practice project for doing it.
