I'm a trimmer. Not a scant trimmer either. I don't like to trim less than an 1/8 of an inch. I go for at least a 1/4 of an inch. Lots of room for corrections.

Believe it or not, it never occurred to trim the blocks in my early quilting. I just made everything fit! Ya'll taught me about trimming. Now, I will trim if the blocks need it.

Usually make everything bigger and trim. There is nothing more frustrating than ending up with a too small block!

Go big (or slightly big) and trim. Avoid the scant 1/4 inch seems. While some blocks come out more precise using the scant 1/4 inch seem, so does sewing slightly bigger units and using the full 1/4 inch seem IMHO.
