Default Trip around the world

I've finished the top for a trip around the world using Eleanor Burns pattern. I need suggestions on how to quilt it. I don't really want to do stitch in the ditch. I tried doing a search on the pictures forum, but it didn't work.

In keeping with the diagonal pattern, I'd go diagonally across the quilt, traveling from square to square, putting a simple flower in one square and a leaf in the next, then repeat.

Here's one I did using that pattern. This one was done with a walking foot. I recently finished another one and did an edge-to-edge free motion design but don't have a picture of that one.

This thread is in perfect time, as I'm working on the same quilt pattern and have been thinking the same! I'll be watching. If I was good enough at FMQ, I would love to quilt feathers diagonally across the top.

Beautiful quilt. That pattern is on my list of quilts to make. I like the quilting.

I have quilted diagonals and I have made x's in the squares and I have made crosses in the squares. I like the circle quilting and may try that on my next Trip.

Here's what I did to mine and then gave it to the senior center for auction.

Suz in Iowa, that quilting is spectacular especially the border. Did you use a stencil to get them all so perfect or how did you do that?
Also, I noticed you have a Viking and a Babylock. How do they compare if you don't mind saying. Thanks.

I quilted both of my TAW with stitch in the ditch in a zig zag pattern following the color bands using every other color. The back looked like I had meticulously created a measured zig zag.

Great ideas! Now I just have to decide which one to use. I'm fairly new at FMQ and my quilt is a special gift, so I may go with the circles. Thanks everyone.
