    Default String Quilt Revival

Is anyone else doing this "Diamonds are forever" from the book? My question is what are you using for the foundation. The book seems vague to me, just says : "no show mesh stabilizer - lightweight transparent non-woven nylon mesh". I asked at Hancocks, they were not any help, I bought Sulky Soft & Sheer. 12 inches by 11 yards on a roll. Is rather expensive, especially since blocks are 6.5 inches and it is only 12 in. wide. Is anyone have any ideas? I don't see why regular cheap non-fusible wouldn't work. Ideas ladies?

I've not made one myself (except in my head) but I know some folks have used old telephone books, newspapers and the sort - any kind of lighter weight paper.

I have just used any light weight leftover fabric in the past and it worked just fine.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the result with the interfacing, it stops most of the stretching. Will post when done. Thanks again.

The small "local" phone books in my area are great for that.

    Hi Janceejan,
I am one of the authors of String Quilt Revival and am sorry you are having a difficult time finding the 30" wide no show mesh stabilizer. Unfortunately the publisher would not allow us to promote our product in the book. You can find the 10yd, 25yd and 50yd bundles of 30" wide stabilizer on our website www.stripsandstrings.com at more reasonable prices. Please be careful about using the tearaway stabilizer unless you plan to remove all of it. Muslin has been used for many years, but it has a bias and stretches and ravels. A lot of our patterns are worked on the bias and would be distorted when worked on muslin. Sorry for your confusion and hope this info helps.
