I am looking for a cute penguin pattern, preferably one with a different penguin each month. Is there a penguin pattern of the month club ;) ?

I am also looking for a dahlia pattern that looks like an actual dahlia. I'm wanting to make one for a friend's daughter that is named Dahlia.

I'm new at this and don't really know where to look.

Are you maybe looking for the traditional Giant Dahlia pattern?

There is a .pdf (you'll need Adobe Reader to see it) that includes templates here:

    http://www.plumcreekquilts.com/Dahli...20Patterns.pdf

And then there is a very good book by Susan Aylsworth Murwin which I used to make one of these some years ago:

    Have fun with it Emily!

I don't understand what you mean by "actually looks like a dahlia" Do you mean an applique pattern that is more realistic. There are patterns and templates for Giant Dahlia available which is pieced.

Thanks! It never occurred to me to look outside of quilting patterns. Would I do this paper piecing thing with this?

I did mean a more realistic Dahlia. The Giant Dahlia is perfect!
