What a great blessing for you! I also agree that smaller sashing would look nice and it will give you a connection to the family member who started it. Good luck

Oh how wonderful for you!! I have my grandmother's treadle sewing machine. She had died when I was two years old. My mom passed away and I inherited it. Have to put some work into it to get it to sew again (needs new belt) but I am so thrilled to have it. I want to honor her by fixing it and actually sewing on it. I totally understand your joy.

There is something so special about old quilts. people had less but they seemed happier. Family was the center of everyones world. Fabrics were from worn out or too small clothse, one made do and used it up, there wasn't huge debt cause no one had any money to get into debt. Quilts were a necessity not a luxury.

It sure is wonderful to receive the quilt and the machine. What kind of fabric is the top made of it looks like nylon? Thanks, Sue
