    I need to oil my sewing machine. Is it alright use WD-40 instead of sewing machine oil?

    No No No, Mary. If you can't get somewhere to get sm oil, you can use Hoppe's Gun Oil if hubby has some. And do not use 3-1 oil, either. Or send me your snail mail addy and I'll send you a bottle.

    Singer sewing machine oil and only use oil designed for a sewing machines

    It doesn't have to be Singer, but it MUST say SEWING MACHINE oil. Anything else will gum up your machine.

    normally walmart carries sewing maching oil; don't use anything else. Make sure your machine needs it though. I have a Kenmore/Janome computerized and it says dont oil it but My singer and vikings get oil; so check your owners manual or on line if you don't have one.

    Don't use WD-40 to oil it is used for cleaning gunked up oil on machinery. It really isn't used for oiling a sewing machine just cleaning it then oil it.
