UFO
#3
To me, a UFO or WIP is anything that cannot be used for what it's being made for -- placed on a bed (quilt), wall (hanging) or table (topper), worn (as a garment) or carried (as a bag or tote). Everything goes in stages. First it's pieced, then it's layered, then it's quilted, then it's bound. Once it's ready to use, it is no longer a UFO or WIP.
This may just be me rationalizing it, but it keeps me from going crazy. I actually prefer the term Work in Progress, because then I just figure what stage I'm in.

I consider things that I am once in awhile working on "WIPs". UFO is something that has laid there so long it is obviously abandoned and I have no desire to go back to it. I have a quilt I've been working on over two years now. I drop it whenever a small project comes up that I want to work on, but I do work on it once in awhile. I consider it a WIP, not a UFO. Another project I started and then dropped entirely for two years - that was a UFO.
If a quilt isn't bound, I consider it unfinished.

Part of mine I have not worked on for awhile but due to 2 deaths in my family a husband and a son all my things were in storage and I had no place to work on them now have found a home and and have a portable building that is all mine so am getting into all my stuff and beginning to work on the things so do not think that most of them are UFO's Just give me a little time and part of them may become UFO's. I just want to work on everything at once and got some new things I want to do that I am just like a child at Christmas. Thanks to God and my DS & DIL my life is on the right track again.
