I have enjoyed using an ironing mat next to my sewing machine. However, it is getting old and needing replacement. I can't remember where I purchased my current one, and wondered if anyone had a recommendation for an ironing mat?

I use one I bought at Walmart. It's about 20X22 inches. That might be too large for your application. It's actually made to go on your dryer. I think it was less than $10.00.

Everyone was talking about the wool mats so picked one up at the last quilt retreat I went to. Also picked up one of those hand size irons to go with it. Its nice to have it right next to my machine when doing paper piecing. You can get these mats in just about any size it seems too. I really like mine and the little iron I picked up to go with it. Paid twice the price though than what I could have paid at Walmart. Won't make that mistake again. Think my mat is 12 x 18 or there about.

I just cover my old one with a clean pillow case. When the pillow case gets dirty, I take it off and replace it. I’ve been doing this for about 15 years ;0)

I discovered this trick about a month ago! Wish you'd told me sooner! I like old flannel ones.

The wool ironing pad is worth the investment. Paired with the Clover wedge iron perfect next to my machine.

I bought one of the portable steam irons at Walmart for $13. It doesn't compare to the portable Steam Fast iron so you probably got a better iron then you think. I find a lot of sewing notions at Walmart that are quality and will check there first.

I bought one at WalMart for $12.88. It is a Steam Fast iron. It heats up quickly and has a handle which fits my small hand better.

This is what I found a few years ago and I made one and love it. Portable and easy to put away when not in use.

The one sold in the store at Walmart that I have is a Steamfast Mighty 707 steam iron. The original Steam Fast is says Travel Mini 720. I can tell the difference when I use them. On Walmart website the Steam Fast Travel Mini is on sale for $13 from $30. Great buy.
