I am making a quilt for a gift and it is more of a contemporary style than I usually make.

I want it to drape well. I do not want it to shrink and crinkle as much as the Warm & Natural (my usual brand).

Any suggestions on batting other than the polyester?

    Thanks!

Maybe a cotton/poly blend? It will drape and not crinkle, but won't clump up like pure poly likes to sometimes :D:D:D

Have you tried prewashing/shrinking the warm & natural before using it? I've washed it and it behaved well.

Try going to http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/ they have a Quick Reference Chart on the different battings. Maybe this will help you out.

Polyester batting is the most common choice for no shrinkage at all. As others have suggested, you can pre-shrink other battings that have cotton content. Most of the shrinkage occurs in the dryer, so you just have to be careful to pick a cotton batting that can stand up to being tumbled in the dryer. WnN is sufficiently stable because it is needlepunched through scrim. Quilter's Dream cotton might be stable enough also since it is needlepunched (but not through scrim). I would not try pre-shrinking cotton battings that are not needlepunched.

The Quilter's Dream cotton batting that I purchased said DO NOT WASH - shrinkage 1% or less - of course that info was on the back of the label/insert - and I almost missed it because I was used to dunking the Warm & Natural.

Wash the fabric and batting and it doesn't krinkle as much.
