I don't do hand embroidery, only machine now but I think you can use the same thread. I use Sulky, Robbison Atton, Gutterman, Coats & Clark, etc. there are so many different brands. A good place to find varigated thread is to go to a LQS that also sells sewing machines, especially if they have embroidery ones. You will find that there are different weights for different projects.

Somehow I am always dissapointed when I am done. Same with yarn...I guess I have the fantasy in mind and it never looks the way I thought it would.

Good for you - variegated thread is a terrific toy to play with!

I have trouble with varigated thread. It keeps jamming up my bobbin and shredding. Dothey make cotton or is it polyester?

Try a different weight.

You might need to use a lighter weight thread in the bobbin.

Just yesterday I found a quilt I had started quilting probably 5 years ago. It had gotten lost in the shuffle of my many moves during college. And I'd been using a variegated blue thread for the quilting. I love it more now than I think I did before even.

I think variegated thread is so pretty sometimes I hate using it and just like looking at it but eventually I use it
