I finished my blocks and now I am trying to figure if the aqua fabric with dots will work for the setting triangles. Belfrybat & Oklahomamama2, this was an easy pattern to do. I designed this pattern on EQ7. I was short on the fabric so I moved the blocks on point and liked the final results. This is a charity quilt for a foster kid so there is a minimum size of 50" x 60".

I cut 6.5" squares. For sashing, I cut the block in half and for cornerstones, I cut the squares in fourths. I guess that is cheating but I like the sashing to be the same on both sides. I was trying to make a Shabby Chic sort of quilt and took me years to find enough fabrics. I did get the blocks trimmed to 8.5" and was able to arrange them. Just going to check that I am satisfied with layout because I am overly fussy with similar fabric not being too close. The if the aqua with dots works, I will be cutting the setting triangles tomorrow.

Love the quilts by Fiona, Hikeaddict, Skhf and Maniac. I love the new ideas I get from this board. I think I'm going to try the cat one but with some butterfly fabric I have.

Fiona, what is the name of the pattern you used?

In the meantime, I've fixed the mistake on MT9 and have the sashing cut to finish it up. Hope to get it done today then work on the log cabin geese one tomorrow.

I'm finally quilting 1 of 9 quilts needed by the end of May. Yes, I know I've been procrastinating. Haven't used the quilt machine all winter except for a training session with a friend from MO. It had been so long since I really quilted that I was a little afraid to try. Its even computerized and still I hesitated. Finally got the 1st quilt loaded Thursday afternoon but then went out to start cleaning out the gardens instead. Finally started quilting late yesterday afternoon and now I feel better.

Also have the next quilt project laying on the cutting table. Have wanted to make a french braid for my bedroom but couldn't decide which version. Here's a pic of the one I'll be doing in colors from dark rust (orangy) to yellow/gold with accents of dark green for the coins and center of separator strip with dark grey for the outer color of the separator strip. Wanted to throw in grey somewhere as it goes so well with so many colors these days. I'll have to make the borders wider to fit my full size bed but that's okay.

The quilt I've got on the frame right now is a Bonnie Hunter's Bricks & Stones. Made a larger one for a friend who is a farmer so used veggie/fruits along with the colors you see in this quilt I made with the leftovers. I'm using Smoke Grey to quilt it and I'm liking it.

Okay here it is! I am working on "Sunflower". The pattern is found in Mountain Mist Quilt Favorites and will be 81"x98". IT was created by Margaret Hayes of Knoxville I presume in the '30's. I have to make the 4 corner squares, put it together and add the borders. I am sewing all weekend but don't think I can finish.

I will be finishing the binding on a comfort quilt I am making for a neighbor, and then on to trying to finishing re-organizing my studio. I have gone from one project to the next for the last year, with no clean-up inbetween. It is a mess. I spent last weekend sorting and pressing fabric and probably will need at least one more. Tomorrow I will be packing and getting ready to leave monday for a week with my daughter and sisters at a quilt show in Tennessee.

I'm working on another kind of I Spy quilt. No jars this time, just 5 inch squares sashed in black. I cut two squares from each fabric, in order to have enough, but also I think it will make for another fun child's "game" -- finding the matching square. I started this quilt when I saw a photo of one like it -- just the sashed squares -- mainly to use up the novelty fabric I bought for the first I Spy....and still I have fabric left!

I may get all the blocks and rows sewn together today. But I also HAVE to clean! My house has been neglected lately. And should do some work in the yard, too, now that we have the sun again and reasonable temps. And then there's the 401A which I want to set up and clean and tinker with......

....so many projects, so little time. And I'm retired! I don't know how you working people do it.

Today I was supposed to be in New York at the Empire Guild's charity day. I was bringing two tops to donate. They usually get more than a hundred quilts put together. But...it's raining, the stitches in my shoulder from a skin cancer removal hurt, I didn't look forward to 4 times when I'd have to wait for a bus, which could take a minute or two or could take "forever". So I told my husband I'm not here, I'm working on finishing the two quilts and pretending I'm at the charity meeting, and since I don't have a good area for laying out a quilt I asked our building concierge if I could be let into the community room so I could take advantage of the very large tables. He said just let him know. So by now my iron is ready, I'm going to get everything prepared, and hopefully will be downstairs working by myself for the next few hours. To all of you, enjoy your projects!

mme3924..love your "so many projects, so little time......" I am retired, too and I feel the same way. When I worked I seemed to find time to just sit still and enjoy but that doesn't happen now for sure! I grew up in Texas and later moved to NJ close to NYC and now I am in Illinois. I thought life would slow down here. LOL Goodness I am so glad I don't have to go to work anymore!!! Yard work is a couple of weeks away..we still have scattered piles of snow so I am using this time to finish as many quilts as I can before it is time to get to work outside. I did take a nice long walk this morning..how I love the fresh air! Back to work on my Sunflowers!

Glad I have such excellent company this weekend! I have finished a few projects but I'm leaving Tuesday for 10 days to visit my parents in Florida so getting things ready for that and doing some house stuff too. 17 EZ coasters, 3 patriotic table runners and I have the Cactus Flower table runner by Judy Niemeyer top done.
