I was in Walmart today and happy to see the new fabric department is almost finished :))

I did find 4 fabrics that I liked and of course couldn't pass up. The very nice woman that works there cut them perfectly straight AND then put them in a clear plastic bag with the label on the outside. She said that she likes to do that so you don't have to worry about them getting dirty while you shop :)

I think that is a great idea and hope all the Walmart stores do that.

you have to be really careful and know what you are looking for in quality! I found two fabrics last week that were barely passable..the others were really thin and grainy feeling...doubt the color will stay on them long as the backs were nearly white....

the prices were higher than they used to be of course...on sale some were $2.50 but the newer ones were $4.97!

I went to the Walmart in Myrtle Beach while on vacation last week. The had LOTS of fabric. They had bolts everywhere. There were several types of precuts. The prices started at $1.50 (thin) up to $5.99. I found a couple of fabrics that felt nice and were really pretty for $3.99.

Even fabric stores have some thin materials.

It was okay quality, it's Walmart, so I know I am not getting top of the line, but for what I wanted it for that is okay with me. (hope that doesn't sound snarky, not meaning it to )

    Prices were fine....3.47 and up.

I just returned from grocery shopping and am so excited! There are several walmarts here in Omaha, but only 2 still have their fabric departments and both are pretty far from me. One is smaller, but the other one....their entire craft department is awesome....anywho....

I was getting groceries and saw that they have increased the size of the craft department probably 3 times what it has been. There are 6 full aisles that while bare, you could see where all the bolts would go and the little metal curved thing that would separate them. There is a new cutting table and pallets and pallets of notions, tools and machines. They haven't unpacked it yet.

With all the shops around here having fabric so ridiculously expensive, I won't mind at all if the prices are 4.97 instead of 4.44. It's still a ton cheaper than everybody else!

I was just curious as to whether the prices went up. I have a Joanne's 5 minutes from my house but Walmart is 15-20 minutes (they eliminated fabric) and other Walmart is 35 minutes from my house so I don't get there very often.
