walmart fabric

I don't have a Wal Mart nearby now that I have moved. The two closet ones (Spruce Pine, NC and Asheville, NC) are closing out the fabric depts. I went shopping for wonder under the other day and one fabric dept was just about bare. So you are a very lucky person to have one that still sells fabric!

I was at my W/M this morning and they don't have any. I even asked and she asked me what a Jelly roll was. I know we're a small town and all, but goodness, she works in the fabric and has for about 4 or so years..

I was at wallyworld yesterday and saw the jellyrolls. It is funny how the fabric departments are so different. I have 4 all within about 15 min of my house. I live in the metro Atlanta area. Anyway 2 no longer have fabric. The other two one has a sweet woman in the fabric dept. She always seems to be there. but the fabric is so disorganised. Bolts that are from the same maker and are made to go together are put back on the shelves in different areas and then the WW has a cople of different folks in the fabric department and neither knows anything about sewing. I saw the jellyrolls and commented I could not believe they were selling them and while standing there explianing to them what they were I attracted an audiance.... Me the beginner... Anyway the jellyrolls were snapped up quick. I didn't have the dough for the jelly rolls so I will have to raise some and go back.. OK bad pun.

I live in West Texas and 1 of the WM have already quit selling fabric. There are several WM in the area around us from 30 to 100 mis that have WMs all but one closed their fabric section. Most of the people in those small towns depend on Walmart for "ALL" their needs and they can't believe that they have lost what they loved the most about the store.

Our Wall Mart carries material. Not a whole lot which really upsets me, but 40 miles east to Liberal KS. has a big Wallyw and they have a big department of fabric. Bot places have fat quarters-------I'm not sure what you all mean by jelly rolls  is that the small rolls of fabric they rolled up in bundles? If it is I'm one junkie when it come to to the things :)
