Want pattern using HST's
Need idea for using HST's. Sometime ago I "won" a pkg. of about 100 six inch hst's. They are all assorted light & dark greens (not my colors), so will be donation quilt. If I need to make more I guess I can find other greens in my stash. Do you think I need to add another color.

I can see pinwheels in 4 to a block. These can be seperated by white or yellow sashing. Black sashing if the colors are really bright. Then a sashing border a middle border then a wider outer border of a print that compliments the green HST's. Luann in Rainy CT

take a stack of about 25 of them & start laying them out- turning them this way & that- you will be absolutely amazed with all the different designs you can come up with- zig-zags, stars, just all kinds- i think a hst is one of the most versatile block out there- there are whole books dedicated to using them-
we have a bag of them (i think about 200) that for the past 10 years my kids, nephew, grandkids will pull out & (play) with laying them out & challenging each other to come up with new ways - they are a fun design tool and can occupy us for literally hours.

This one has long been on my to-do list. She did hers in warms & cools, you could do yours the same way, only blues for the warms and greens for cools.

If you need more inspiration, look at all the many layouts for log cabin blocks.
The same can be used for HSTs.
Peckish ... that's a layout I always like. Nice too with darks/lights rather than the multi colours in that one, which are lovely too.
